Cooler air will start to filter into the region today on the backside of a frontal boundary that will stall out and stick around through the weekend.

The front will be nearby, but south and east of the region today. Some occasional scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible, but much of the day will turn out dry.

Clouds will mix with some breaks of sun between any showers that develop.

With the front nearby, winds will be light. A southwest wind will blow in the morning with speeds up to 5 mph. The wind will turn light and variable, even just calm, during the afternoon and evening.

Dewpoints will remain elevated in the mid and upper 60s, making it feel muggy. However, temperatures will drop with highs ranging from the upper 70s to the low 80s.

There will be little change to the overall picture during the nighttime hours. A few showers will continue to be possible, especially in the predawn hours.

Temperatures will slowly drop to the mid 60s this evening with low 60s overnight.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Saturday: Clouds, some sun, and a few showers or storms. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Sunday: On and off showers throughout the day. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.

Monday: A few morning showers. Some afternoon sun. Morning lows near 60. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.

Tuesday: Early sun, then some clouds. Maybe a few late showers. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.
