A new weather system will approach the area today, but precipitation should hold off until after sunset.

The best chance for some sunshine today will come in the later morning hours. New, mainly thin clouds will be pushing in from the west as some morning low clouds burn off.

There will be a window before the new clouds thicken for some breaks of sunshine. The afternoon should then become increasingly cloudy as the next system approaches.

The first chances for rain will be in the hours surrounding sunset, though these chances will be low. The rain chances will increase through the evening, with steady rain near and after midnight.

There could be some rumbles of thunder and heavy downpours as well.

Temperatures today will be a bit warmer than yesterday thanks to southwest winds of 5-10 mph. Look for afternoon highs in the mid 70s. It will still be a bit humid with dewpoints in the low and mid 60s.

Evening temperatures will drop to the mid 60s, followed by a drop to the upper 50s overnight as a cold front moves through.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Wednesday: Morning showers. Increasing sun for the afternoon. Morning lows in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs in the upper 60s.

Thursday: A little sun early and late. Cloudy otherwise. Morning lows in the upper 40s. Afternoon highs in the low and mid 60s.

Friday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.

Saturday: Sunny, perhaps with some thin clouds. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the upper 60s.
