High pressure will start to lose its grip on our region as an area of low pressure takes shape along the coast of the Carolinas and heads northward.

The first half of the day should remain sunny. A slight southeast wind will help temperatures warm this morning.

By the afternoon, however, clouds will start to approach and possibly move into the region. These clouds will be high in the atmosphere, so some sunshine may still filter through at first.

Gradually, the clouds will thicken and sunlight will be reduced. How quickly and completely this takes place will depend on the exact location of the low, and any slight deviations from expected could have large impacts on the cloudiness this afternoon.

Rain is not expected today, no matter how cloudy it may end up getting.

Temperatures will top out around 70 degrees just before the clouds build in this afternoon. As the clouds thicken, temperatures may retreat a degree or two.

Tonight, skies will be cloudy though rain will continue to be absent from the region. Temperatures will not be as chilly as of late, with overnight lows in the mid 40s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Saturday: Mostly cloudy. Possibly some late showers. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy with periods of rain possible. Morning lows in the upper 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.

Monday: Sun and clouds. Maybe a few showers. Morning lows in the upper 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.

Tuesday: More sun than clouds. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.
