The Marathon Lady Olympians took control of their game against Tioga Senior Tuesday evening at Marathon’s Appleby Elementary school. Marathon shutout Tioga with a final score of 5-0.

Marathon started things off well in the first period of the game with three goals to take an early lead.

The Lady Olympians kept dominating on offense throughout the game, and scored an additional 2 goals in the last two periods.

Marathon ended up recording a total of 28 shots, while holding Tioga Senior to 3 shots throughout the game.

“It’s one of those games where we try to do some different things,” said Marathon head coach Karen Funk. “Once we know we can score, then we work a little bit more on people changing positions, flexibility, versatility, I’m looking to see who can play more than one position, and that (scoring a lot) gave us the opportunity to do that.”

When asked about her outlook for the rest of the season, coach Funk said that “she likes to take one game at a time.”
