Homer’s Effinger & Franco advance to the Girls’ Tennis Section III Division II Doubles Championship Round

Homer’s doubles team, Emma Effinger and Lauren Franco participated in the first three rounds of the Section III Division II Doubles Tournament on Monday (October 9th). All matches were played at Hamilton College. 

The Homer Lady Trojans entered the tournament as the No.4 seed. 

Effinger and Franco defeated No.13 seed Katherine Mullen and Sarah Mullen of Whitesboro in the first round of the tournament after three sets. 

In the second round, Effinger and Franco beat No.12 seed Anna Hasegawa and Jaeda Robinson of Jamesville-Dewitt in two sets. 

In the semifinal round, Effinger and Franco played against the No. 8 seed team of Ella Blunt and Avery Mack of Mexico. 

Mexico’s duo of Blunt and Mack defeated the top-seeded team of the tournament, Lily Goodemote and Hana Sabanovic of New Hartford in the previous round. 

Effinger and Franco ended up winning their semifinal match in two straight sets with a score of (6-1) & (6-3). 

Effinger and Franco are now scheduled to play in the championship round of the tournament against No.2 seeded duo Julianna Caroli and Myah Rainbow of Oneida. The match will take place at Oneida High School on Thursday (October 12th) at 3:30pm.
