The Village of Homer announced on Thursday that hunting has been banned at a local cemetery.

The village’s Board of Trustees voted unanimously at its Sept. 26 meeting that hunting will not be allowed at the Glenwood Cemetery, which is located at the corner of Routes 90 and 281.

“This is for the safety of all cemetery visitors,” according to a post on the village’s Facebook page. The post added that visitors are still welcome to walk the cemetery grounds.

A handful of years ago, the village purchased property on Wolf Road to extend the cemetery. The area used to be a place where people hunted.

For further information, questions or concerns, contact the village office at 607-749-3322. The village is currently in the process of ordering customized no-hunting signs for the cemetery entrance.
