The weather pattern will start to change today, though it will be hard to tell by looking out the window.

Clouds should be plentiful again today, this time in response to a shift in the winds and the beginning push of warmer air.

The low pressure system that has been influencing our weather since the weekend has departed, but high pressure has not built in to take its place.

Without the higher pressures to suppress cloud growth, as warmer air comes in on southwest winds, it will be enough to trigger clouds.

There will still be some occasional glimpses of sunshine, especially later in the afternoon. Rain is generally not expected, though a spit of morning drizzle cannot be totally ruled out early on.

The southwest winds will remain light with speeds around 5 mph. Still, the wind will help nudge temperatures upward a couple of degrees, with highs main near or slightly above 55 degrees.

Tonight, clouds will gradually diminish and skies may clear for a time. Some thin clouds may arrive in the area from the west around sunrise.

Evening temperatures will drop to the mid 40s. Overnight lows will stick near 40 degrees, propped up by the continuing southwest winds.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Thursday: Some early sunshine gradually becoming increasingly filtered by thin clouds. Morning lows near 40. Afternoon highs in the low 60s.

Friday: More clouds than sun. Perhaps a few showers. Morning lows in the upper 40s. Afternoon highs near 60.

Saturday: Rain, or at least some showers. Morning lows in the upper 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.

Sunday: Cool, breezy, and showery. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s.
