Cincinnatus knocks out county rival McGraw in first round of sectionals (photos included)

The 4th-seeded Cincinnatus Lions beat county rival McGraw, who were the 13th-seed in the first round of the Section III Class D playoff tournament. 

Cincinnatus won the game with a score of 6-2 at the Cincinnatus Fireman's Field Wednesday evening. 

Both teams played each other on two separate occasions during the regular season, where Cincinnatus came up victorious both times.

The Lions started things off well with 4 goals in the first half. 

With just over 16 minutes left in the first half, McGraw sophomore Calob Sutton scored to make it 1-4 before halftime. 

Cincinnatus fired from all cylinders, and scored two additional second half goals to cap off the game. 

McGraw revived their second goal when a Cincinnatus player scored on his own team’s goal, and that made it 6-2 with just about 2 minutes left.

Cincinnatus was led by Jack Stafford (3 goals & 1 assist), Koda Temple (1 goal & 1 assist), Caleb Souva (1 goal & 1 assist), John Schuyler (1 goal), Trevor Shevalier (1 assist), Canden Stafford (1 assist), and Zack Streichert (1 assist).

McGraw was led by Calob Sutton (1 goal) and Ryan Parks (1 assist). 

With this result, McGraw ended their season with an overall record of 8-7-1. 

Cincinnatus will host the quarterfinal round of the sectional tournament against 5th-seed Manlius Pebble Hill (MPH) at the Fireman's Field in Cincinnatus this Friday (October 20th) at 3pm. (Note: the start time of the game is subject to change).
