The town of Cortlandville recently revealed its tentative 2024 budget, which details plans for increased spending.

As part of the town’s potential $11.8 million budget, current estimates indicate spending is up from $11,180,176 to $11,825,489 proposed for 2024.

The tax rate per $1,000 in assessed property value will go up from $3.60 to $3.61 this upcoming year if the estimates hold, said town supervisor Tom Williams on Wednesday. Based on proposed figures, the town will levy $3,471,375 in taxes, compared to $3,375,050 last year.

The Cortlandville town board will hold a special meeting on Tuesday (Oct. 24) at 3 p.m. in an attempt to move the 2024 tentative $11.8 million budget forward. The hope, based on reactions from the town board members on Wednesday, is that the budget will go from the tentative stage to the preliminary stage at the special meeting.

A budget public hearing and a final budget vote are expected in November.
