Cincinnatus girls soccer remains near the top in state rankings

The Cincinnatus girls soccer squad remained near the top in this week’s New York State Sportswriters Association rankings.

The Lions (17-0-1) are ranked sixth in the state in Class D for the second-straight week.

Cincinnatus, the top seed in this year’s Class D tournament, is coming off a 7-1 win over 9th-seeded Sackets Harbor.

The Lions will face 4th-seeded Copenhagen in the sectional semifinals at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Nottingham High School.

The Golden Knights (16-1-1) are state-ranked just above Cincinnatus at No. 5. Other Section III Class D teams ranked in the state are Bishop Ludden (17-0) at No. 8 and Poland (12-5-1) at No. 14.
