An area of high pressure from Canada will pass overhead today with some chilly air.

Mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies are likely through the morning and into the first part of the afternoon. Some thin clouds will move in from the southwest late in the day as the high retreats and low pressure takes shape over the Mississippi Valley.

Cloudy skies are likely by evening and will persist through the night, but no precipitation will fall.

The center of circulation for the high pressure system will pass just to our north. With an outward, clockwise flow of air from this point, our winds will be light from the north throughout the day. Wind speeds will be around 5 mph.

Despite the light winds and the sunshine, temperatures will be chilly today with highs in the mid and upper 30s.

The wind will turn to the southeast tonight as the high pulls away and wind speeds may climb to near 10 mph by the predawn hours.

Temperatures this evening will quickly drop to the mid and even low 20s this evening. However, with the increase in clouds and winds, temperatures will mostly hold steady from there through the overnight.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Tuesday: Cloudy with rain or mixed precipitation late. Gusty to strong winds possible. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.

Wednesday: Breezy with scattered rain showers. Temperatures rise overnight to the low and mid 40s for the morning, then fall to the upper 30s in the afternoon.

Thursday: Sun and clouds. Maybe a stray flurry early. Morning lows in the upper 20s. Afternoon highs near 40.

Friday: Gradually increasing and thickening clouds. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.
