A cold front last night will deliver a fresh shot of cold air today along with some lake effect snow showers.

Steady northwest winds will blow throughout the day. Wind speeds will build to 10-15 mph during the afternoon with gusts as high as 30 mph.

The wind will counteract the normal daytime heating, and temperatures will move very little during the day. Most of the time, temperatures will hover just above 30 degrees. Some of the northern hilltops may not escape the upper 20s today.

Occasional snow showers off Lake Ontario are possible, especially from the late morning through the mid-afternoon. Some areas may see a light coating to as much as an inch or so of accumulation.

The snow showers should dissipate late in the afternoon but will redevelop to our north in the early evening. Another round of snow showers will be possible late this evening and early into the overnight before again dissipating.

Nighttime temperatures will back into mid and upper 20s this evening with overnight lows reaching down into the low 20s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Saturday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the low 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.

Sunday: Some early sun, then increasing clouds. Evening showers possible. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs around 40.

Monday: Mostly cloudy with a few showers or flurries. Morning lows near 30. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.

Tuesday: Occasional lake effect snow showers. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the low 30s.
