Increasing west winds associated with a strong low pressure over eastern Canada will kick up some lake effect snow showers today.

Any snow showers we see today will come all the way from Lake Erie, thanks to blustery west winds. The best chance for snow will come tonight, with a few flurries also possible in the morning.

Warmer afternoon temperatures will both limit the lake effect, and may cause whatever makes it this far east to fall mainly as rain showers with a few snowflakes mixing in.

Accumulations during the daytime hours are not expected, but a few localized areas may see a coating to an inch during the nighttime hours.

The wind will be at its strongest during the midday and early afternoon. Wind speeds will be between 10-15 mph with gusts as high as 30 mph.

The temperature will only rise a couple of degrees today, peaking in the mid to locally upper 30s. Once the sun sets, temperatures will quickly drop into the 20s, with an overnight low in the low 20s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Tuesday: Sun and clouds early. Some lake effect snow showers late. Morning lows in the low 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 20s.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy. Maybe an early flurry. Morning lows in the upper 10s. Afternoon highs in the low 30s.

Thursday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs near 40.

Friday: Cloudy with some light rain showers. Morning lows in the upper 20s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.
