Man gets into an accident, flees the scene (Cortland County Sheriff)

A man last week got into an accident and fled the scene, according to a report.

The Cortland County Sheriff’s report stated that officers investigated a motor vehicle accident near Fairview Drive in the town of Cortlandville on Friday evening.

According to the report, officers discovered that Nicholas P. Nino, 45 of Cortland, caused the accident and fled the scene. Nino was located a short time later in Cortland.

Nino was found to be driving while intoxicated and had a suspended driver’s license due to a previous DWI offense, the report noted. Along with his DWI charge, Nino was also charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation (a Class-E Felony), and leaving the scene of a property damage accident operating in violation of restrictions, operating without insurance, failure to keep right and no front license plate (all infractions).

Nino was processed, arraigned, and sent to Cortland County Jail on a $500 cash bail or $1,000 bond. He is due to appear in Cortlandville town court on Dec. 4.
