The Homer Trojans started their season off with a 1-0 record after winning 44-35 against OnTech Charter at Homer high school Tuesday night.

The Trojans took control of the game early in the game, as they outscored OnTech Charter 13-2 in the opening quarter.

OnTech Charter picked themselves back up as they scored 13 points in the second quarter. Homer had a 21-15 lead at halftime.

The second half turned into a back and forth battle, but the Trojans’ defense kept their composure to come out victorious.

“Defense wins,” stated Homer head coach Ken Updike

“We did a pretty good job identifying shooters, keeping guys out of the paint, and rebounding the basketball,” added coach Updike. “Tough nights on offense, you’re going to have to hang your head on defense to get a win.”
