Varsity Wrestling: Homer vs. Canastota
The Homer Trojans defeated Canastota in a dual match with a team score of 48-25 at Canastota high school Wednesday night.

The Cortland Lady Tigers improved to a 2-0 record after beating Utica Proctor with a score of 59-28 Wednesday night.
Cortland was led by Valerosa Gambitta (23 points) and Kendall Mack (16 points).
Utica Proctor was led by Zlata Seho (12 points), Gianna Schmidt (4 points), and Nyasiah Moore (4 points).
Cortland’s next game will be played at Cortland junior-senior high school on Tuesday (December 12th) at 6:45pm.
Varsity Boys Basketball: Marathon vs. Newfield
The Marathon Olympians fell to a 1-2 record after losing to Newfield on the road with a score of 44-50.
Marathon was led by Bryce Hartman (16 points), Jacob Byron (11 points), and Zachary Birdsall (8 points).
Note: Newfield’s stats were not made available by the time this article was written.
Up next, Marathon will host Union Springs at Marathon high school on Tuesday (December 12th) at 7:15pm.
Varsity Girls Volleyball: Cincinnatus vs. Fabius-Pompey

The Cincinnatus Lady Lions won a close match against Fabius-Pompey in order to improve to a 2-0 record.
“After losing the first set 21-25, the ladies found some rhythm winning the next three sets,” said Cincinnatus head coach Teresa Merihew. “The entire team contributed in the victory.”
Cincinnatus was led by Allyson St. Germain (12 kills & 15 digs), Payton Gerrard (1 kill & 13 digs), Kaedance Latta (2 kills, 2 digs, 17 assists & 4 aces), and Cassia Schuyler (24 digs & 2 aces).
Fabius-Pompey was led by Izzy Burton (8 kills, 20 digs, 1 assist & 1 ace), Payton Taylor (2 kills, 11 digs, 13 assists & 2 aces), Elsa Hull (8 digs & 12 assists), Ashlee Freebern (10 kills, 3 blocks, 12 digs, 1 assist & 1 ace), and Ava Lee (1 kill & 16 digs).
Cincinnatus’ next match will be played on the road against Manlius Pebble Hill on Friday (December 8th) at 7pm.
Varsity Track & Field: Homer vs. Multiple Teams (Oscar B. Jensen Memorial Invitational)
The Homer Trojans participated in the Oscar B. Jensen Memorial Invitational at Onondaga Community College Wednesday evening.
The Homer boys’ team placed 16th overall out of 21 participating teams, while the Homer girls’ team placed 8th overall out of 21 participating teams.
Here are some highlights from both Homer boys’ and girls’ teams:
Homer Boys
- Tasker Dennis placed 7th in the weight throw event (Result - 41’1.5”)
- Gunnar Tyrrell came in 8th place in the triple jump event (Result - 38’ 3.75”). His jump was a season best
- Logan Griffin qualified for the Sectional Championships in the weight throw event after recording a throw of 40’1”. His throw also broke the Homer sophomore class record
Homer Girls
- Ingrid Aagaard placed 2nd in the 1,000 meter run (Time - 3:18.89). Her time qualifies her for the Sectional Championships. She also ran a personal best time in the 300 meter run (Time - 45.77) which also qualified her for the Sectional Championships
- Molly McMasters finished in 2nd place in the weight throw event (Result - 33’5”). She also placed 5th in the shot put event (Result - 26’7”)
- Hannah Bouwens came in 2nd place in the shot put event (Result - 28’2.5”). She placed 7th in the weight throw event (Result - 28’11.5”)
- Homer’s 4x200 meter relay team (Izzy Tutino, Ingrid Aagaard, Caitlin McCloy & Emma Effinger) came in 6th place with an official time of 1:56.62
- Homer’s 4x400 meter relay team (Mia Knight, Caitlin McCloy, Haley Tucker & Amelia Wagner) finished in 8th place with an official time of 5:10.81
Varsity Boys Bowling: Cortland vs. Homer
The Cortland Purple Tigers defeated county rival Homer Trojans with a team score of 7-0 Wednesday evening.
