Welfare fraud, damaging property and more (County Sheriff’s Blotter)

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office recently released arrest reports that contain charges of welfare fraud, damaging property and more.

Below are the arrest reports:

Marissa R. Labella

Labella, 32 of Cortland, was arrested on Wednesday (Dec. 6).

The county sheriff’s report stated that in April of this year, Labella “filed fraudulent paperwork” with the county department of social services. Labella also “failed to report household income” as required, the report stated.

According to the report, Labella received an excess of $1,700 in benefits “she was not entitled to.”

Labella was charged with fourth-degree welfare fraud, fourth-degree grand larceny and first-degree offering a false instrument for filing (all Class-E Felonies). She is due to appear in Cortland city court on Dec. 18.

Jentre T. Bergman

Bergman, 32 of Cortland, was arrested on Wednesday (Dec. 6).

The county sheriff’s report stated that Bergman “forced entry” into a camper on West River Road in the town of Cortlandville. According to the report, Bergman “destroyed numerous items” inside and out of the camper. Bergman also stole valuable items from the camper.

Bergman was charged with second-degree burglary (a Class-C Felony), and second-degree criminal mischief and third-degree grand larceny (both Class-D Felonies).

Bergman, who is facing other unrelated charges, is currently being held at Cortland County Jail. He is due to be arraigned in Cortlandville town court on Dec. 18.

Dannie N. Ganoe

Ganoe, 42 of the town of Scott, was arrested on Tuesday (Dec. 5).

The county sheriff’s report stated that Ganoe “engaged in a physical altercation” with a known individual.

Ganoe was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation and second-degree harassment. He was arraigned, released and now due to appear in Scott town court on Dec. 19.
