Varsity Volleyball: Cincinnatus defeats McGraw in county rivalry match (photos included)

The Cincinnatus Lady Lions defeated county rival McGraw at McGraw high school Monday night. 

Cincinnatus beat the McGraw Lady Eagles in three straight sets. With this result, Cincinnatus improved to a 3-1 record, while McGraw fell to 0-2. 

It was a slow start for Cincinnatus, as they fell 5-14 in the opening set. The Lady Lions overcame the deficit to win the set 25-21. 

After rallying back to win the first set, the Lady Lions fired from all cylinders for the rest of the match. 

Cincinnatus won the following two sets, as the Eagles struggled to get back into the match.

“I was not coming into this game lightly,” stated Cincinnatus head coach Teresa Merihew

“I knew that it was going to be a fight, but I am proud of our girls for pulling it out,” added coach Merihew. “We were behind quite a few points on that first set.”

Cincinnatus was led by Cassia Schuyler (19 service points), Allyson St. Germain (5 aces & 7 kills), Kaedance Latta (8 assists & 6 service points), Madelyn Pittsley (5 blocks), Payton Gerrard (4 aces), and Kaylee Brenchley (8 service points & 2 kills).  

McGraw was led by Camdyn Caperton (2 kills, 1 block, 3 assists & 3 aces), Mikenlee Ticknor (3 kills & 3 blocks), and Remington Stull (2 kills, 1 block & 1 dig). 

Up next, Cincinnatus is scheduled to play on the road against Stockbridge Valley on Thursday (December 14th) at 7pm; while McGraw plays DeRuyter on the road this Friday (December 15th) at 7pm.
