Multiple fire departments put out fire in McGraw

The McGraw Fire Department, with assistance from the City of Cortland and Cortlandville Fire Departments, came together to put out a fire in the village late Thursday evening.

The report stated that at about 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, crews from the McGraw Fire Department dispatched to a garage fire on Clinton Street in the village.

According to McGraw deputy fire chief Andrew Harvey, crews put out the fire within minutes of arriving on scene. Harvey noted that the garage is a “total loss.”

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, Harvey said, noting it is under investigation with McGraw’s department and the state.

Each of the fire departments’ reports on the fire noted a fast response to the fire. It was noted in the city fire department’s report that six firefighters, three of them volunteers, provided water supply and helped extinguish the fire.
