One person is dead following a fatal car crash in Cortland County on Wednesday, according to a report.
The Cortland County Sheriff’s report stated that an accident involving one car took place on Stillwell Road in the town of Solon. Two individuals in the vehicle were traveling north on Stillwell Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle, leaving the roadway and striking the tree.
One person died at the scene. The other occupant had its injuries treated at the Upstate Medical Center and was later released. Names of the individuals were not released at the time of the published report, which is pending identification and notification of the next of kin, the report stated.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information on the accident is asked to contact the county sheriff’s criminal investigation division at 607-758-6151.
The county sheriff’s office was assisted by the City of Cortland Police Department, the McGraw Fire Department, the Cortland County and Solon Highway Departments, TLC ambulance and the county coroner’s office.
