Cool northwest winds will bring some lake effect snow showers to the area today.

A spray of lake effect will impact the area throughout the morning hours before gradually tapering off this afternoon. Depending on how quickly the lake effect dissipates, there may be a little sun poking out before it sets.

Snow accumulations will be limited to a coating to an inch. Higher elevations have the best shot at seeing an inch or slightly more.

The northwest wind will blow with speeds of 10-15 mph and a few gusts over 25 mph.

Not only will this hold temperatures to around 30 degrees this afternoon, but it will keep wind chills in the 20s and, at times, 10s.

The wind will lighten up after sunset and skies will become partly cloudy to mostly clear.

Evening temperatures will quickly drop to near 20 degrees with an overnight low in the mid 10s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Friday: A mix of sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 10s. Afternoon highs around 30 degrees.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy. Perhaps some snow in the evening and overnight. Morning lows in the low 20s. Afternoon highs in the low 30s.

Sunday: Periods of snow possible. Minor to light accumulations. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the low 30s.

Monday: A few morning flurries. Perhaps a little afternoon sun. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.
