Cortland County High School Sports Recaps (January 10th)

Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Wednesday’s events:

Varsity Girls Basketball: Homer vs. Christian Brothers Academy (CBA)

The Homer Lady Trojans lost to CBA with a score of 66-31 on the road Wednesday night. With this loss, Homer has fallen to an overall record of 3-7. 

Homer was led by Lauren Franco (13 points), Elia Spanbauer (6 points), Madison Morgan (6 points), Anya Gofkowski (3 points), Elizabeth McCloy (2 points), and Kaylee Darling (1 point). 

CBA was led by Cara Macaluso (21 points), Chianna Williams (16 points), Carmella Fairbanks (12 points), Lilah Kirch (9 points), Maricatherine Giamartino (4 points), Liana Thomas (2 points), and Katie Nolan (2 points). 

Homer’s next game will be played at Homer high school against Mexico this Friday (January 12th). Tip off is at 7pm.

Varsity Girls Basketball: Cincinnatus vs. Madison

The Cincinnatus Lady Lions lost 21-28 against Madison, making them fall to an overall record of 4-9. 

Cincinnatus was led by Cortney Scutt (13 points), Sidney Glover (6 points), and Rachael Standish (2 points). 

Madison was led by Camryn Parmon (15 points), Mackenzie Cotter (4 points), Lauren Zehr (3 points), McKenzie LaMunion (2 points), Janet Coleman (2 points), and Cameryn Stanfield (2 points). 

Cincinnatus is now scheduled to host county rival McGraw at Cincinnatus high school on Wednesday (January 17th) at 5:30pm.

Varsity Girls Basketball: McGraw vs. Stockbridge Valley

The McGraw Lady Eagles fell to an overall record of 4-8 after losing to Stockbridge Valley Wednesday evening. McGraw lost the game with a score of 30-22. 

McGraw was led by Hannah Wilson (18 points, 15 rebounds & 7 steals), Heather Magee (2 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist & 3 steals), and Lexi McCall (2 points & 1 rebound). 

Stockbridge Valley was led by Karalynne Carmon (16 points, 12 rebounds, 1 steal & 2 blocks), Rebekah Cullen (7 points, 6 rebounds & 2 steals), Marlie Brummer (6 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals & 2 blocks), and Sophia Stevens (1 point & 2 rebounds). 

Up next, McGraw will look forward to playing county rival Cincinnatus at Cincinnatus high school on Wednesday (January 17th) at 5:30pm. 

Varsity Boys Bowling: Cortland vs. Christian Brothers Academy (CBA)

The Cortland Purple Tigers defeated CBA with a team score of 7-0 Wednesday afternoon at Cort-Lanes in Cortland.
