Cortland man arrested for second time this week (City Police)

A Cortland man arrested earlier this week was arrested again the following day, according to a city police report.

The city police report stated that Matthew J. Barber was the center of a larceny investigation at a Main Street building on Wednesday.

According to the report, Barber is the same individual who broke into a maintenance room and stole tools in the basement of a building on Tuesday.

Between the two arrests, Barber has been charged with two counts of petit larceny and fifth-degree conspiracy (Class-A Misdemeanors), and third-degree burglary (a Class-D Felony).

Barber was arraigned and released. He is due to appear in city court at a later date.

Bryan R. Howe

Howe, 33 of McGraw, was arrested on Tuesday.

The county sheriff’s report stated that Howe stole merchandise from the Walmart store in Cortlandville.

According to the report, Howe previously had a trespass notice on the property. He fled the scene before officers arrived. Officers located Howe, who was taken into custody after resisting arrest.

Howe was charged with third-degree burglary (a felony), and petit larceny and resisting arrest (misdemeanors). He was arraigned, released and now due to appear in Cortlandville town court on Feb. 7.
