A woman that is currently being held in Cortland County Jail is facing child pornography charges, according to a report.
The New York State Police report noted that on Nov. 13, 2023, a cybertip was received in regard to “child sexual abuse material” that was uploaded to a mobile messaging app.
According to the report, the investigation determined that Bethany L. Crispell, 31 of Smithville, used the mobile messaging app to “view and exchange child sexual materials.”
Crispell was arrested last Wednesday (Jan. 31) and charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child under the age of 17 and possessing a sexual performance by a child.
The report mentioned that Crispell was sent to county jail. She is due to appear in Smithville town court on Tuesday (Feb. 6).
Representatives from State Police could not be reached for further comment or details on Crispell’s arrest.
