A couple local high school basketball teams remained in this week’s New York State Sportswriters Association’s rankings.

The Cortland girls basketball team went from 8th to 6th in the state in Class A. The Purple Tigers recently defeated Mexico by a 44-16 score. Cortland is set to host Section IV’s Norwich at 6:45 p.m. Friday.

The McGraw boys basketball came in at No. 19 in the state in Class D. The Eagles (10-5) are coming off a 46-42 victory over Madison, snapping a three-game losing skid in the process. McGraw will host rival Cincinnatus today at 7 p.m., with the Central Counties League title up for grabs.
