Basketball squads in the county continue to appear in state rankings

A couple of basketball squads in Cortland County continue to appear in the New York State Sportswriters Association’s rankings.

The Cortland girls basketball team moved from sixth to the top five (at No. 5) in the state in Class A. The Purple Tigers (18-1) are coming off a 51-31 win over Skaneateles on Monday. The squad will wrap up its regular season with a road game at Mexico today at 6:30 p.m.

The McGraw boys basketball team appeared at No. 20 in the state in Class D this week. The Eagles dropped from No. 19 last week. McGraw caps its regular season at Stockbridge Valley on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
