Marathon boys’ and girls’ basketball sectional seedings & matchups announced

The Section IV sectional seedings and matchups were announced this week. Both the Marathon boys’ and girls’ basketball teams are scheduled to compete in the upcoming sectional tournament. 

Below are Marathon’s current matchups and seedings:

Marathon Boys

The Marathon Olympians earned the No.10 seed in the Section IV Class C playoff tournament after ending the regular season with an overall record of 10-10. 

Marathon will play in the first round of the tournament this upcoming Wednesday (February 21st) against No. 7 seed Bainbridge-Guilford. The game will be played at Bainbridge-Guilford high school at 6pm. (Note: start time of the game is subject to change). 

The winner of this game will play No.2 seed Elmira Notre Dame in the quarterfinal round.

Marathon Girls

The Marathon Lady Olympians ended their regular season with an overall record of 13-6, earning them the No.7 seed of the Section IV Class C playoff tournament. 

Marathon is scheduled to host the first round of the sectional tournament at Marathon high school on Tuesday (February 20th). Marathon will play No. 10 seed Walton-Downsville. Tip off is at 6pm. (Note: start time of the game is subject to change). 

The winner of the game will play No.2 seed Greene in the next round. Greene received a first round bye.
