High pressure will build into the region today, bringing some quiet weather to the area.

This morning, clouds and a few snow showers off Lake Ontario will linger thanks to northwest winds. Little to no snow accumulation is expected and most of the time will be dry.

As the high pressure builds in and strengthens overhead, the conditions for lake effect will diminish. Clouds will break up, then disappear, and skies should become mostly sunny during the afternoon.

The northwest winds will be strongest in the morning, coming in around 10 mph. The wind will decrease in the afternoon and may even be mostly calm by sunset.

Clear skies and nearly calm winds will persist through the evening and overnight.

Temperatures will mostly be in the mid and upper 20s this afternoon. Evening temperatures will quickly drop to near or under 20 degrees. Overnight lows will end up in the low 10s with some colder pockets possible.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Tuesday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows in the low 10s. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.

Wednesday: Sunshine with increasing clouds late. Morning lows in the low 20s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with a few rain showers and possibly some early snow showers. Morning lows in the near 30. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.

Friday: Mostly cloudy. Maybe a spit of rain or snow. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.
