High pressure will continue to control our weather but will start to lose its grip late in the day.

Sunshine will be plentiful through the morning and first half of the afternoon. Some occasional small, thin clouds will mix in, but should do little to reduce the availability of sunshine.

Late in the afternoon, thicker, more widespread clouds will begin to filter in from the west. Mostly cloudy skies will persist through the evening and overnight.

There may even be a few spits of snow or sleet before sunrise. This should not be enough to cause any travel trouble for Thursday’s morning commute.

A steady south wind will blow today, both day and night. Wind speeds will be up to 10 mph and will be strongest over the northern hilltops.

The wind and sunshine will help push temperatures to near or just above 40 degrees this afternoon. Evening temperatures will drop to the low and mid 30s with overnight lows in the mid and upper 20s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Thursday: Spits of morning snow and sleet, turning to rain showers. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Friday: Mostly cloudy. Maybe a spits of rain and snow. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.

Saturday: Clouds, some breaks of sun, and a few snow showers in the morning. Morning lows in the low 10s. Afternoon highs in the low 20s.

Sunday: Clouds and some sun. Morning lows in the low 10s. Afternoon highs near 40.
