A small low pressure system off the coast of New England will slowly move further east today, allowing for a narrow wedge of high pressure to sneak into our area.

Much of the day will be cloudy due to the low pressure. The morning in particular should be locked into overcast skies.

During the afternoon, a few breaks of sunshine will eventually start to poke through. The later in the day, the greater the chance for sunshine.

The clouds will finally clear during the evening with periods of clear skies mixing with a few scattered clouds through the nighttime hours.

No precipitation will fall from any of the clouds today, though.

Winds will be nearly calm throughout the day. A southeast wind with speeds just over 5 mph will develop this evening and persist through the night.

Afternoon highs will warm into the mid 50s simply by nature of not having any cooling winds in place. Temperatures could end up a touch cooler or warmer depending on the evolution of the afternoon sun.

Evening temperatures will slide back through the 40s with overnight lows just under or near 40 degrees.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Monday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the upper 30s to near 40. Afternoon highs in the low 60s.

Tuesday: Cloudy with rain possible. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.

Wednesday: Cloudy. Some rain possible. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs in the low 50s.

Thursday: Precipitation likely, especially late, but precipitation type too uncertain to tell this far out. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.
