County Sheriff’s Blotter: Refusal of a breath test and more

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office recently released a couple of arrest reports.

Below are the reports:

Jared M. Cassel

Cassel, 23, of New Hampton, was arrested during the early-morning hours of Saturday (March 2).

The county sheriff’s report stated that officers observed a vehicle parked in front of the public safety building on Greenbush Street with the hazard lights on.

According to the report, when officers inquired if the driver needed any assistance, Cassel was found to be intoxicated inside the vehicle.

Cassel was charged with driving while intoxicated (a Class-A Misdemeanor) and refusal of a breath test (traffic infraction). He was arraigned, released and now due to appear in Cortland city court on March 22.

Nickolas D. Santamarina

Santamarina, 32, of Cortland, was arrested on Saturday (March 2).

The county sheriff’s report stated that officers conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle that was traveling on Route 13 in Cortlandville.

According to the report, Santamarina was driving while intoxicated. He was charged with a DWI and driving with .08 or more of blood alcohol content (misdemeanors).

Santamarina was released and is now due to appear in Cortlandville town court on March 11.
