The Cortland Indoor Track & Field team had two athletes competing in the 2024 New York State Championship meet over the weekend.
Cortland seniors Bryan Honan and Michael Dearie competed in the weight throw event at this year’s indoor state championship meet at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island.
Honan ended up placing 9th in the weight throw event with a throw of 58’5.5”. Dearie placed 19th in the weight throw event with a throw of 54’9.75”.
According to Cortland head coach Luke Schweider, both Honan and Dearie will compete at the “Nike Nationals at The Armory (New York City) on Saturday (March 9th) in the weight throw (event). Jack Phelan will also be competing in the triple jump (event).”
“Isabella Sisting will be competing in New Balance Nationals in Boston in the 60 meter dash as an 8th grader,” added coach Schweider.
According to the The New Balance Nationals website, the meet will take place at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston from Thursday (March 7th) through Sunday (March 10th).
