Warming centers in the city of Cortland are temporarily closed.

Cortland’s code blue warming centers at The Salvation Army (13 S. Main St.) and Grace & Holy Spirit Church (13 Court St.) closed on Sunday and will continue to be closed for a few days, according to the Cortland County Department of Social Services.

Warming centers are open when the temperature outside is 32 degrees or below. The brief closure of the local warming centers, which have been open since the beginning of winter, are temporarily closing due to warmer temperatures to start out the week.

A Salvation Army representative said the organization’s warming center will reopen on Wednesday at 8 p.m. Allison Veintimilla, deputy commissioner of social services in Cortland County, confirmed the Grace & Holy Spirit’s warming center will reopen on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
