Wild animal in tree monitored by Homer police

The Homer Police Department was monitoring a wild animal in a tree on Sunday.

According to the Homer Police Department Facebook page, Sgt. Kevin Soderholm was monitoring a raccoon up high in a tree at the corner of South Main Street and Pine Street in the village’s downtown area.

The police department’s Facebook post noted that the raccoon appeared to be young, and not injured or sick. 

Homer police posted an update Monday morning saying the raccoon came down on its own and that the area was clear.
