Cold air will move in behind low pressure today, leading to a gradual increase in wintry weather and decrease in travel conditions.

A little rain may mix in with snow this morning, but for the most part, precipitation should be light and spotty.

Snow showers will increase during the midday and first half of the afternoon. A brief squall or two will also be possible.

Through the early afternoon, temperatures should still be above freezing. This will keep road conditions in fair to good condition.

Snow will continue to increase during the late afternoon, becoming steady with embedded heavier periods. This will continue into the evening and through the overnight.

Temperatures will drop below freezing in the late afternoon and into the 20s after sunset. Road conditions will become snowy and slick.

Northwest winds will be increasing as well. During the morning, gusts will be up to 30 mph. These will increase to as high as 40 mph during the afternoon and as high as 45 mph overnight.

The wind will reduce visibility and cause blowing and drifting snow.

Snow accumulations during the daytime hours will be limited to an inch or so, mainly over higher elevations.

The snow will start to pile up easier as the sun sets, with some northern hilltops seeing over 6 inches by sunrise Monday. Much of the county will see 2-5 inches.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Monday: Morning snow tapers off early with some afternoon sun. Windy, especially in the morning. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.

Tuesday: Quite a bit of sunshine. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s.

Wednesday: Sun, clouds, and a few showers. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 50s.
