Strong winds will blow behind this weekend’s low pressure system, but the snow and clouds will depart early on.

Most of the snow should be over by 9 or 10 AM this morning. Another inch or two may fall this morning, and roads will be messy.

Once the snow ends, it will not take long for the sun to work its way out. The afternoon should be mostly sunny with just a few thin clouds.

It will be windy, though, with northwest winds near 20 mph in the morning and just a bit weaker in the afternoon. Top gusts could approach 50 mph.

Blowing and drifting snow will be commonplace this morning. Rising temperatures and the sunshine will help compact the snow this afternoon, reducing but probably not totally eliminating the blowing snow.

Winds will drop drastically this evening as they turn more westerly with speeds around 5 mph.

Temperatures will top out in the upper 30s this afternoon. Evening temperatures will slide back to the low 30s, and overnight lows will be in the upper 20s.

Skies will be mostly clear overnight with a few occasional thin clouds.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Tuesday: Quite a bit of sunshine. Morning lows in the upper 20s. Afternoon highs near 50.

Wednesday: Sun, clouds, and a few showers. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 50s.

Thursday: Sun and clouds. Possibly a few showers. Morning lows in the upper 30s. Afternoon highs near 60.

Friday: Sun and clouds. Possibly a few showers. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs in the upper 50s.
