Your Cortland County weather forecast for Tuesday, April 16, 2024:

High pressure will have a firm control on our weather today.

Skies will be mostly clear for much of the day. The best chance for some daytime clouds will come late in the afternoon as some thin clouds begin to stream in from the southwest.

These clouds will continue to move in during the evening and will stick around overnight. As we get closer to dawn, the clouds should thicken as well.

Winds will be from the northwest with speeds generally under 10 mph. Top gusts will be around 25 mph.

Late in the day, the wind will turn more northerly before becoming nearly calm during the evening. The wind will pick back up, lightly, from the southeast overnight.

Temperatures will be very similar to yesterday with highs in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees for the valleys, and in the mid 50s for higher elevations.

There will be a quick drop in temperature this evening, reaching the mid 40s soon after nightfall. Overnight lows will end up in the mid 30s.
