Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Tuesday’s events:

Varsity Softball: Homer vs. Chittenango (Double-Header)

The Homer Lady Trojans played a double-header against Chittenango on the road on Tuesday. Homer lost the first game with a score of 21-1 and lost the second game with a score of 17-1.

With these results, Homer has fallen to an 0-5 record.

The McGraw Lady Eagles fell to an overall record of 1-3 after losing to Brookfield with a score of 5-3. 

McGraw was led by Remington Stull (1 run & 7 strikeouts thrown), Bristol Eastman (1 run & 1 hit), Camdyn Caperton (1 hit & 2 RBI’s), Leah Terwilliger (1 hit & 2 RBI’s), Madison Sweeney (1 run), Abby Lakie (1 hit), and Haylee Bassett (1 hit). 

Brookfield was led by Stephanie Brean (2 runs & 2 hits), Delaney Karn (1 run & 2 hits), Kaysie White (1 hit & 3 RBI’s), Lydia Peckham (1 run, 1 hit & 1 RBI), Kylee Cucci (1 run & 1 hit & 7 strikeouts thrown), Mackenzie Bugbee (1 RBI), and Mallory Wilcox (5 strikeouts thrown). 

McGraw’s next game will be played on the road against county rival Cincinnatus on Monday (April 29th) at 4:30pm. 

Varsity Baseball: Homer vs. Chittenango

The Homer Trojans defeated Chittenango with a score of 5-3 on the road Tuesday afternoon. With this win, Homer improved to an overall record of 2-3.

Varsity Baseball: Cortland vs. Westhill

The Cortland Purple Tigers lost against Westhill with a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. This was Cortland’s first loss of the season, making them fall to an overall record of 5-1. 

Cortland was led by Caden Albright (1 hit), Zach Muir (8 strikeouts thrown), and Owen Johnson (1 strikeout thrown). 

Westhill was led by Trey Dillabough (2 hits & 1 RBI), Taden Chester (1 run & 1 hit), Dominic Zawadzki (1 hit & 1 RBI), Kellen Pens (1 run), Michael Madigan III (12 strikeouts thrown), and Luke Pickett (1 strikeout thrown). 

Up next, Cortland is scheduled to play Westhill at Onondaga Community College this Friday (April 19th) at 7pm.

The McGraw Eagles defeated Otselic Valley-Cincinnatus with a score of 9-1 at the Gutchess Lumber Sports Complex Tuesday evening. With this result, McGraw improved to an overall record of 6-1, while Otselic Valley-Cincinnatus fell to 0-2. 

McGraw was led by Blair Mulcahy (2 runs, 2 hits, 2 RBI’s & 12 strikeouts thrown), Jaydon Bassett (2 runs, 2 hits & 2 RBI’s), Owen Lea (1 run, 2 hits & 1 RBI), Thomas Lea (1 run & 2 hits), Calob Sutton (1 run & 1 hit), Owen Mulchay (1 run & 1 hit), Foster Eaton (1 RBI), and Brennan Wilson (1 RBI).

Otselic Valley-Cincinnatus was led by Hunter Rozewski (1 run & 1 hit), Braeden Davis (2 hits), Cole Warren (1 hit), Troy Miller (1 RBI), Oliver Marshall (2 strikeouts thrown), Troy Miller (1 strikeout thrown), and Caleb Loomis (1 strikeout thrown).

McGraw’s next game will be played on the road against DeRuyter this Friday (April 19th) at 4:30pm; while Otselic Valley-Cincinnatus will host Stockbridge Valley today (April 17th) at 4:30pm.

Varsity Boys Golf: Marathon vs. Southern Cayuga

The Marathon Olympians defeated Southern Cayuga in a dual match with a team score of 201-231 at Wells College. (Note: lowest score in golf wins).

Varsity Girls Lacrosse: Cortland vs. Southern Hills

The Cortland girls’ lacrosse team lost against Southern Hills with a score of 17-10 on Tuesday. With this loss, Cortland has fallen to a 1-6 record.

Varsity Girls Lacrosse: Homer vs. Skaneateles

The Homer Lady Trojans played against Skaneateles on the road Tuesday afternoon. Homer lost the game with a score of 15-4. 

Homer was led by Maria Partis (2 goals), Ella Spanbauer (2 goals), Isabelle Small (1 assist), Lilly Sorenson (1 assist), and Aislynn Cobb (5 saves).

Varsity Boys Lacrosse: Cortland vs. LaFayette

The Cortland Purple Tigers fell to an overall record of 0-7 after losing to LaFayette with a score of 21-3.

The Homer Trojans lost against Skaneateles with a score of 14-4, making them fall to an overall record of 5-1. 

Homer was led by Daniel Stiles (2 goals), Wyatt Wilbur (1 goal & 1 assist), Alexander Votra (1 goal), and Benjamin Bradshaw (9 saves). 

Skaneateles was led by Sean Kerwick (4 goals & 2 assists), Jack Torrey (4 goals & 1 assist), Luke Mizro (3 goals), Charlie Carbonaro (1 goal & 3 assists), Landen Brunelle (2 goals & 2 assists), Quinn Cheney (1 assist), and Luke Logan (8 saves). 

Homer is now scheduled to play county rival Cortland at Cortland junior-senior high school on Thursday (April 18th) at 7pm.
