The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office announced it is participating in STOP-DWI New York’s ‘420 Drug Day’ high visibility campaign.

The ‘420 Drug Day’ high visibility campaign will go this weekend from Friday (April 19) to Sunday (April 21). The campaign, promoted by STOP-DWI NY and Gov. Kathy Hochul’s traffic safety committee, aims to further reduce the dangers of drunk and impaired driving.

Noted in the release about this weekend’s campaign, “Legalizing marijuana does not mean that it’s okay to drive while high.”

The statewide STOP-DWI campaign also targets Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day and more.

Noted in the release, “You can help make a difference by ‘Having a Sober Plan.’ Impaired driving is completely preventable. All it takes is a little planning.”
