The Homer Trojans defeated county rival Cortland (Purple Tigers) at Cortland junior-senior high school Thursday night with a score of 14-1. With this result, Homer improved to a 6-1 record, while Cortland fell to 0-8.
Homer was led by Mason Potter (2 goals, 1 assist & 6 ground ball), Alexander Votra (3 goals & 11 ground balls), Daniel Stiles (3 goals & 2 assists), Jack Brady (2 goals & 6 ground balls), Cooper Swartz (2 goals & 1 ground ball), Anthony Guido (1 goal & 2 ground balls), Christopher Slade (1 goal & 1 ground ball), Wyatt Wilbur (1 assist & 3 ground balls), Liam O'Connor (7 ground balls), Logan Stauber (3 ground balls), Anthony Cicioni (2 ground balls), Brycen Poole (1 ground ball), Gabriel O'Connor (1 ground ball), Mason McCall (1 ground ball), Daniel Hartnett (1 ground ball), and Benjamin Bradshaw (1 ground ball & 4 saves).
Cortland was led by Mark Darling (1 goal & 2 ground balls), Joseph Banewicz (1 assist & 4 ground balls), Bodey McGrath (8 ground balls), Logan Toomer (6 ground balls), Kollin Rae Dye (3 ground balls), Devlin Riotto (2 ground balls), Wyatt Tinker (2 ground balls), Addison Brown (2 ground balls), Lincoln Moshkowski (1 ground ball), and Declan Vail (1 ground ball & 14 saves).
Up next, Homer will play Penn Yan on the road this upcoming Tuesday (April 23rd) at 6pm; while Cortland is scheduled to play on the road against Cazenovia on Monday (April 29th) at 4:30pm.

The Homer baseball team improved to an overall record of 3-3 after beating Chittenango 7-0 at the Gutchess Lumber Sports Complex Thursday evening.
Homer was led by Mitchell Earle (2 runs, 1 hit & 8 strikeouts thrown), Evan Sullivan (2 runs, 1 hit & 1 RBI), Tristan Allen (1 run, 2 hit & 1 RBI), Maddox Johnson (1 run & 1 RBI), Tyler VanEtten (1 hit & 1 RBI), Andrew Kline (2 RBI’s), Max Franco (1 run), and Eli McMahon (1 hit).
Chittenango was led by Eli Lefort (1 hit), Kyle Peryer (7 strikeouts thrown), and Evan Tianello (1 strikeout thrown).
Homer’s next game will be played against Clinton at the Gutchess Lumber Sports Complex on Saturday (April 20th) at 7pm.
Varsity Girls Golf: Marathon vs. Vestal
The Marathon Lady Olympians competed in a dual match against Vestal at the Apalachin Golf Course Thursday afternoon.
Marathon lost the match with a team score of 198-185. (Note: the lowest score in golf wins)
