County Sheriff’s Blotter: Stolen bike, DWI and more

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office recently released some arrest reports from over the weekend.

Here are the reports:

Carl R. Sherman

Sherman, 52, of Cortlandville, was arrested on Saturday (May 4).

The county sheriff’s report stated that officers responded to the Grand Union grocery store on Route 281 in Cortlandville for a reported larceny.

According to the report, Sherman may have been responsible for stealing a bicycle from the store. Officers located Sherman with drugs, but not the stolen bicycle. Sherman was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.

Sherman was processed, released and is now due to appear in Cortlandville town court next Monday (May 13) at 1 p.m. 

The report stated that the investigation into the stolen bicycle is still open and ongoing.

Zachary B. Zimmerman

Zimmerman, 37, of Dryden, was arrested during the early-morning hours of Saturday (May 4).

The county sheriff’s report stated that officers conducted a traffic stop on Route 281 in Cortlandville for a vehicle with an equipment violation. According to the report, Zimmerman was driving while intoxicated.

Zimmerman was charged with a DWI and driving with .08 of 1% or more of alcohol (misdemeanors), and for no/inadequate headlamps (violation). He was processed, released and is now due to appear in Cortlandville town court on May 20.
