County Sheriff’s Blotter: Impersonation, criminal mischief and more

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office released reports on recent arrests.

Below are the reports:

Casey C. Burke

Burke, 42, of Homer, was arrested last Wednesday (May 8).

The county sheriff’s report stated that on May 5, officers responded to the Lowe’s store in Cortlandville for a larceny complaint.

According to the report, Burke allegedly stole merchandise from the store before fleeing the scene. During the evening of May 5, officers responded to a found property complaint at a nearby business.

Burke allegedly provided a false name and date of birth to evade pending larceny charges and an active warrant. Officers found Burke at the Byrne Dairy in Homer and was taken into custody for his active warrants.

Burke was charged with first-degree promoting prison contraband (felony), second-degree criminal impersonation (misdemeanor) and petit larceny (misdemeanor). Burke was sent to Cortland County Jail with no bail. He is due to appear in court at a later date.

Artis L. Young

Young, 32, of Cortland, was arrested on Thursday (May 9).

The county sheriff’s report stated that Young allegedly stole and damaged merchandise in the Walmart store in Cortlandville.

Young was charged with petit larceny and fourth-degree criminal mischief (misdemeanors). Young was processed, released and is now scheduled to appear in Cortlandville town court on June 3.
