Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Tuesday’s events:

Varsity Girls Golf: Marathon vs. Corning

The Marathon Lady Olympians won 199-206 against Corning on senior night Tuesday afternoon. 

Marathon seniors Abigail Ensign, Kendre Euson, and Anna Hoyt were celebrated at the match.

Varsity Baseball: Cortland vs. Chittenango

The Cortland Purple Tigers beat Chittenango with a score of 10-4 Tuesday evening. With this win, Cortland improved to an overall record of 13-5. 

Cortland was led by Zach Muir (1 run, 1 hit, 1 RBI & 9 strikeouts thrown), Ethan Johnson (2 runs, 2 hits & 2 RBI’s), Danny Jackson (2 runs & 1 hit), Sean Rogoff (1 run), Jaheim Robinson (1 run), Tyler Thomas (1 run), Tyler Fitchette (1 RBI), Owen Johnson (1 RBI), Cal Albright (1 run, 2 hits & 1 RBI), Caden Albright (1 hit), and Mason Kurtz (1 run). 

Chittenango was led by Andrew Kielbasa (1 run & 1 hit), Ryan Thousand (1 run & 1 hit), Micah Schiralli (1 run), Eli Lefort (1 run), Quinton Hilliker (2 hits & 3 RBI’s), Drew Thomas (1 hit), and Kyle Peryer (1 hit & 8 strikeouts thrown).

Cortland is now scheduled to play their last game of the regular season today (May 15th) against Chittenango. The game will be played at Gutchess Lumber Sports Complex at 5pm. 

Varsity Baseball: Otselic Valley-Cincinnatus vs. Stockbridge Valley

The Otselic Valley-Cincinnatus baseball team fell to an overall record of 4-7 after losing to Stockbridge Valley with a score of 6-3. 

Otselic Valley-Cincinnatus was led by Avram Moses (1 hit & 6 strikeouts thrown), Caleb Loomis (2 runs & 1 hit), Lukas Schieferstein (1 hit & 1 RBI), Braeden Davis (1 run, 1 hit & 1 strikeout thrown), and Troy Miller (1 hit & 1 RBI).

Otselic Valley-Cincinnatus’ next game will be played at Otselic Valley high school against McGraw today (May 15th) at 4:30pm. 

Varsity Softball: Cortland vs. Chittenango

The Cortland softball team lost to Chittenango with a score of 20-3 on the road Tuesday evening, making them fall to an overall record of 7-8.

Cortland was led by Ava Turner (1 run, 1 hit & 2 RBI’s), Claire Turner (1 run & 1 hit), Gracie-Jo Homza (1 run), Sophie Mayer (1 hit), and Brenna Hogan (3 strikeouts thrown). 

Chittenango was led by Alivia Cavotta (3 total runs, 1 home-run, 3 hits & 5 RBI’s), Anna Cavotta (2 runs, 1 hit & 2 RBI’s), Stephanie Huckabee (2 runs, 1 hit & 2 RBI’s), Lauren Machan (3 runs, 2 hits & 2 RBI’s), Brianna Tooke (3 runs, 3 hits & 1 RBI), Hannah Cretaro (3 runs, 3 hits & 2 RBI’s), Julia Spencer (2 runs & 2 hits), MaKenna Palko (2 runs, 1 hit & 3 RBI’s), Margaret Bielicki (1 run & 1 hit), and Caroline Porter (8 strikeouts thrown). 

Up next, Cortland will play host Chittenango at Gutchess Lumber Sports Complex today (May 15th) at 5pm. 

Varsity Softball: McGraw vs. Brookfield

The McGraw Lady Eagles defeated Brookfield with a score of 20-8 in order to improve to a 9-6 record. 

McGraw was led by Hannah Wilson (3 runs, 3 hits & 2 RBI’s), Josslyn Eaton (2 runs, 3 hits & 4 RBI’s), Leah Terwilliger (3 runs & 2 hits), Haylee Bassett (3 runs, 2 hits & 1 RBI), Remington Stull (3 runs, 1 RBI & 3 strikeouts thrown), Bristol Eastman (2 runs), Lexi McCall (2 runs), Katelynn Millard (1 hit & 2 RBI’s), Madison Sweeney (1 run & 1 hit), Camdyn Caperton (1 run & 1 hit), and Abby Lakie (2 strikeouts thrown). 

Brookfield was led by MacKenzie Bugbee (2 runs & 2 hits), Sydney Bonafield (1 run & 1 hit), Kylee Cucci (1 run & 1 hit), Kristine Plows (1 hit & 1 RBI), Kaysie White (1 run, 1 hit & 1 RBI), Mallory Wilcox (2 hits, 2 RBI’s & 4 strikeouts thrown), and Lydia Peckham (2 runs & 2 hits).

This was McGraw’s last scheduled game of the regular season. 

According to Section III, there will be a seeding meeting for the upcoming sectional tournament this Sunday (May 19th). 

Varsity Softball: Cincinnatus vs. Marathon

The Cincinnatus Lady Lions beat the Marathon Lady Olympians with a score of 20-5 at Cincinnatus high school Tuesday afternoon. 

With this result, Cincinnatus improved to a 12-3 record, while Marathon fell to 8-12. 

Cincinnatus was led by Madison Stover (4 runs, 3 hits & 2 RBI’s), Lucy Finch (3 runs, 4 hits & 5 RBI’s), Payton Gerrard (3 runs, 4 hits & 1 RBI), Mandi Waltz (1 run & 1 RBI), Emma Finch (1 run & 1 hit), Addison Stith (1 run & 2 hits), Kayle Brenchley (1 run, 3 hits, 6 RBI’s & 3 strikeouts thrown), Neveah Billings (2 runs, 2 hits & 1 strikeout thrown), Hannah Ellerson (2 runs, 3 hits & 1 RBI), and Rachael Standish (1 run, 1 hit & 3 RBI’s).

This was both Cincinnatus’ and Marathon’s last game of the regular season. 

Marathon is scheduled to play in the first round of their sectional tournament this week. Click here for more details on their post-season schedule

Cincinnatus on the other hand will wait to see who they will be facing in the first round of sectionals, as section III is scheduled to have a seeding meeting this Sunday (May 19th).

Varsity Boys Lacrosse: Homer vs. Cazenovia

The Homer boys’ lacrosse team won 8-7 against Cazenovia in order to improve to a 10-5 record. 

Homer was led by Daniel Stiles (3 goals, 2 assists & 2 ground balls), Gabriel O'Connor (2 goals, 1 assist & 2 ground balls), Alexander Votra (1 goal, 2 assists & 11 ground balls), Cooper Swartz (1 goal & 2 assists), Mason Potter (1 goal), Jack Brady (3 ground balls), Liam O'Connor (2 ground balls), Wyatt Wilbur (1 ground ball), Logan Stauber (1 ground ball), Benjamin Bradshaw (1 ground ball & 9 saves). 

Cazenovia’s goals were scored by DB Falge (3 goals), Paul Mitchell (2 goals), Finn Hagan (1 goal), and Owen Porter (1 goal).

Homer is now scheduled to play their last game of the regular season on the road against LaFayette this Thursday (May 16th) at 5pm.

Varsity Girls Lacrosse: Cortland vs. Jordan-Elbridge

The Cortland Lady Tigers fell to an overall record of 2-13 after losing to Jordan-Elbridge with a score of 16-10.

Up next, Cortland will host Whitney Point at Cortland junior-senior high school on Thursday (May 16th) at 5:30pm.  

Varsity Girls Lacrosse: Homer vs. Cazenovia

The Homer Lady Trojans won 19-10 against Cazenovia, improving to an overall record of 10-5. 

Homer was led by Maria Partis (7 goals, 3 assists & 2 ground balls), Lilly Sorenson (3 goals, 4 assists & 2 ground balls), Ella Spanbauer (3 goals & 1 assist), Gracie Newman (2 goals & 2 ground balls), Isabelle Small (1 goal & 2 assists), Emma Effinger (2 goals), Caitlin McCloy (1 goal), and Aislynn Cobb (4 saves). 

Cazenovia was led by Charlie Prior (5 goals, 1 assist & 2 ground balls), Hayden Bubble (2 goals & 1 ground ball), Ella Gale (1 goal & 2 ground balls), Wynslet Skidmore (1 goal & 1 ground ball), Maeve Kelly (1 assist), Izzy Stromer-Galley (2 ground balls), Abby Lansing (1 ground ball), Sally Hughes (1 goal), Tara Pratt (2 ground balls), Madison DeAngelis (2 assists), and Eliza Smith (11 saves). 

Homer’s next game will be played on the road today (May 15th) against Syracuse City at 6:30pm.
