Today will be the hottest, most humid day of the week with a weak cold front moving through overnight.

The morning hours will be characterized by quickly warming temperatures under a mix of sun and clouds.

Southwest winds will pick up and blow at around 10 mph. Gusts will be around 25 mph.

The sun and wind will drive temperatures into the mid and upper 80s by the mid afternoon. Dewpoints will rise into the low and mid 60s, making it feel a bit muggy.

The heat and humidity will also set the stage for some scattered showers and thunderstorms. Some areas may not see any rain, but the chances for these showers and storms will be greater than any other day this week.

There is also a small chance that one or two of the storms may be on the strong side. Frequent lightning and strong winds are the primary threats.

Most of the rain should dissipate before sunset, though a stray small shower cannot be ruled out through the night.

Evening temperatures will slowly drop through the 70s with overnight lows in the low 60s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Thursday: Early morning clouds and maybe a shower. Then, increasing sunshine. Morning lows in the low 60s.  Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Friday: Sun and a few clouds. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs around 80.

Saturday: Scattered showers and storms possible. Morning lows in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Sunday: Clouds and some sun. Rain possible by night. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.
