Schuyler County man arrested on drug charges in Cortlandville

CORTLANDVILLE, N.Y. -- A man from the village of Burdett who was wanted in Schuyler County for a probation violation was arrested in Cortlandville Wednesday, the Cortland County Sheriff's Office said.

On Wednesday, sheriff's deputies responded to Kellogg Road in Cortlandville to assist Schuyler County Probation with attempting to locate 26-year-old Joseph White, of Burdett, who was wanted for violating his probation.

When officers arrived, White ran from the area in an attempt to elude officers, authorities said. White was apprehended after a short foot chase, after which he was found to be in possession of heroin.

White was charged with 13 counts of criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, obstruction of governmental administration, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and criminally using drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors.

He was arraigned in Cortlandville Town Court Thursday evening and taken to Cortland County Jail on $1,000 cash bail or $2,500 property bond.
