Two ejected from motorcycle in Cortlandville crash

 

CORTLAND, N.Y. — Two people sustained severe injuries after their motorcycle collided with a motor vehicle on Route 13 Tuesday night.

At around 9:15 p.m., the Cortland County Sheriff's Office responded to a car vs. motorcycle crash on Route 13 near the intersection with Starr Road/McLean Road.

The crash occurred when the driver of a 2005 Honda Civic was exiting the parking lot of the Kwik Fill gas station at 1057 Route 13, intending to make a left turn onto Route 13.

When the driver entered the roadway, she struck a 2003 Suzuki motorcycle, which was driven by 48-year-old Willie Brigman.

Brigman and his passenger, 44-year-old Elizabeth Brigman, were ejected from the vehicle and sustained severe injuries as a result of the crash. They were transported to Upstate University Hospital by TLC Ambulance.

The driver of the Honda Civic, identified as 43-year-old Victoria Klueber, sustained a minor wrist injury in the crash.

Authorities are investigating the accident. Agencies assisting the sheriff's office at the scene were the Cortlandville Department, Morey's Towing, the SUNY Cortland University Police Department, and TLC Ambulance.

A portion of Route 13 was closed for several hours Tuesday night while members of the sheriff's office accident investigation team processed the scene.

This is the second incident involving a motorcycle near that stretch of Route 13 in the past two days. On Monday morning, a motorcyclist sustained minor injuries after she rear-ended a Subaru near the intersection with Starr Road.
