Winter weather advisory: Updated snowfall estimates for Cortland County

CORTLAND, N.Y. — A winter weather advisory is in effect for Cortland County from 3 p.m. Tuesday through 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches are expected, with winds gusting as high as 35 mph. High temperatures will be in the low to mid 30s, with lows tonight in the upper 20s.

Mixed rain and snow will change to wet snow today, but with little accumulation at first. As temperatures fall later today, more snow accumulation is expected, mostly during Tuesday night through Wednesday morning, with areas of blowing snow persisting through Wednesday.

Forecasters say drivers should plan for slippery road conditions. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility, with hazardous conditions having a negative impact on the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commute.

The advisory is also in effect for Tompkins and Seneca counties.
