Here are some of the events happening this weekend in Cortland County:

Cultural Council of Cortland County First Friday: Community Arts Challenge

The Cultural Council of Cortland County will be holding their monthly First Friday event on February 7th from 5 pm-8 pm at the Center for the Arts in Homer, featuring their 10th annual Community Arts Challenge.

Visitors to the Gallery at the Center for the Arts can view visual art entries in this year’s Community Arts Challenge while enjoying light refreshments and hearing live music by Bobcat.

 

This month's First Friday venues include:

  • Dowd Gallery – Measured Confluence Exhibit
  • The 1890 House Museum – Victorian Valentines
  • The Gallery at the Center for the Arts – Community Arts Challenge Visual Artwork & Performance by Bobcat
  • YWCA Cortland – Posters made by the YWCA GEMS

YWCA & SUNY Cortland’s 19th annual Girls' Day Out

YWCA Cortland and the SUNY Cortland Women’s Athletics program invite girls in grades 4-7 to the 19th annual Girls’ Day Out! 

This unique day of activities is designed to engage and motivate girls in the areas of health, fitness, education, and much more.

The event will be taking place on Saturday, February 8th, at the Park Center on SUNY Cortland’s campus from 8:45am-2:45 pm.

FASNY Winter Games

Each year, hundreds of volunteer firefighters and departments from across the state come together for a little competition and camaraderie during the FASNY Winter Games.

The games are hosted by the Greek Peak Mountain Resort in Cortland, and they will be taking place this weekend from February 7th-9th. 

The games include a sled-pull event, stokes basket carry, hose races, tug-of-war, and more. Departments are also awarded for best tailgate setup and farthest travelled. 

The last event that will be taking place will be the Broomball tournament at Park Center in SUNY Cortland at 7am. An awards ceremony will follow the last event on Sunday.

SUNY Cortland women’s and men’s basketball vs. Oswego

On Saturday, February 8th, the SUNY Cortland women’s and men’s basketball teams will be playing against Oswego.

The women's team will play at 2pm, while the men’s team will follow at 4pm. 

Both games will be held at Park Center on SUNY Cortland’s campus.
