Your Cortland County weather forecast for Friday, February 28, 2020:

While the snow belts continued to get pummeled with snow, Cortland County will be rather quiet until late in the day as winds start to shift.

For this morning and the first part of the afternoon, there may be a few snow showers from time to time. There also could be a little sunshine. Mostly, it will just be cloudy. And breezy.

West-southwest winds will not be quite as strong as yesterday, but gusts will still exceed 40 mph at times. Areas of blowing and drifting snow will continue to make travel slick in some areas

Temperatures will only rise into the mid 20s today, about ten degrees below normal for the end of February.

During the late afternoon, winds will start to shift. A brief squall with heavier snow will be possible before it quickly moves south. Additional squalls will be possible in the evening and overnight hours.

Snow accumulations will likely stay under two inches, but most of that could come down quickly, making for brief periods of difficult travel.

Saturday: Flurries and squalls early, then a break before some evening snow showers. Morning lows in the low teens. Afternoon highs near 20.

Sunday: Maybe an early flurry, then some sun. Morning lows in the low teens. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.

Monday: Mostly cloudy with a few afternoon rain showers. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s.

Tuesday: On and off rain showers. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.
