James P. Long, Jr., 42, of Horseheads/CORTLAND COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

CORTLANDVILLE — County Sheriff’s officers were called to a Gracie Road home Friday and discovered a man burglarizing the unoccupied home, according to the police department.

At ll:10 a.m. officers were called to the home after someone reported they suspected a burglary was taking place, according to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office. When deputies arrived, they discovered a Horseheads man — James P. Long, Jr., 42, of Grand Central Avenue— at the vacant home, said Sgt. Anthony D. Phelps. An investigation revealed Long had stolen several items from inside the residence, said Phelps.

State police assisted County officers at the scene.

Long was arraigned and remanded without bail to the Cortland County Correctional Facility. Bail and remand are allowed when the burglary is a dwelling, according to the revised bail reform legislation.
